Sizes 4 mm (U.S. 6) and 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles or size needed to obtain tension. 1 stitch holder. Separating zipper.

TENSION
21 sts and 24 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] with 4.5 mm needles in Fair Isle Pat.

INSTRUCTIONS
The instructions are written for smallest size. If changes are necessary for larger sizes the instructions will be written thus ( ).
Note: When working from charts, carry yarn not in use loosely across WS of work but never over more than 5 sts. When it must pass over more than 5 sts, weave it over and under color in use on next st or at centre point of sts it passes over. The colors are never twisted around one another.

BACK
With MC and smaller needles cast on 106 (114-126-134) sts.
1st row: (RS). P2. *K2. P2. Rep from * to end of row.
2nd row: K2. *P2. K2. Rep from * to end of row.
Rep these 2 rows (K2. P2) ribbing for 2¼ ins [5.5 cm] ending on a 2nd row and inc 3 (3-1-3) st(s) evenly across last row. 109 (117-127-137) sts.
Change to larger needles and work Chart I in stocking st to end of chart reading knit rows from right to left and purl rows from left to right.
Rows 1 to 36 of Chart I form pat.
Cont in pat until work from beg measures 17½ ins [44.5 cm] ending with RS facing for next row.
Armhole shaping: Keeping cont of pat, cast off 6 (8-10-10) sts beg next 2 rows. 97 (101-107-117) sts.
Cont even in pat until work from beg measures 26½ (27-27½-28) ins [67 (68.5-70-71) cm] ending with RS facing for next row.
Shoulder shaping: Cast off 10 (11-12- 13) sts beg next 4 rows, then 11 (10-11-13) sts beg following 2 rows.
Leave rem 35 (37-37-39) sts on a st holder.

LEFT FRONT
**With MC and smaller needles cast on 54 (58-62-66) sts.
Work 2¼ ins [5.5 cm] in (K2. P2) ribbing as given for Back ending on a 2nd row and inc 0 (0-1-2) st(s) evenly across last row. 54 (58-63-68) sts.
Change to larger needles and work Chart I in stocking st to end of chart reading knit rows from right to left and purl rows from left to right.
Rows 1 to 36 of Chart I form pat.**

Armhole shaping: Keeping cont of pat, cast off 6 (8-10-10) sts beg next row. 48 (50-53-58) sts.

SLEEVES
With MC and smaller needles cast on 50 (50-54-54) sts. Work 2¼ ins [5.5 cm] in (K2. P2) ribbing as given for Back ending on a 2nd row and inc 3 sts evenly across last row. 53 (53-57-57) sts.
Change to larger needles and work Chart II in stocking st to end of chart reading knit rows from right to left and purl rows from left to right, noting the 4 st rep will be worked 13 (13-14-14) times.
Rows 1 to 6 of Chart II form pat.
Keeping cont of pat, inc 1 st at each end of next and every following alt row until there are 59 (69-75-80) sts, then every 4th row until there are 93 (99-105-109) sts, taking inc sts into pat.
Cont even in pat until work from beg measures 18¾ (19½-20½-20½) ins [47.5 (49.5-52-52) cm] ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off. Place markers on side edges of sleeves 8 (10- 12-12) rows down from cast off edge.

FINISHING
Pin garment pieces to measurements and cover with a damp cloth leaving to dry.
Collar: Sew shoulder seams. With RS of work facing, MC and smaller needles, pick up and knit 30 (31-31-34) sts up right front neck edge. Knit across 35 (37- 37-39) sts from back st holder dec 1 st at centre. Pick up and knit 30 (31-31-34) sts down left front neck edge. 94 (98-98- 106) sts.
Beg on a 2nd row, work 1½ ins [4 cm] in (K2. P2) ribbing as given for Back.
Change to larger needles and cont in ribbing until Collar from beg measures 5 ins [13 cm] ending with RS facing for next row. Cast off in ribbing.
Front edging: With RS of work facing, MC and smaller needles, pick up and knit 122 (124-126-128) sts along each front edge to beg of Collar. Cast off knitways (WS).
Sew zipper in position under front edgings.
Sew in sleeves placing rows above markers along cast off sts at armhole of Front and Back to form a square armhole. Sew side and sleeve seams.
