MEASUREMENTS
AFGHAN: Approx 47 x 60 ins [119.5 x 152.5 cm].
RUG: Approx 26 x 33 ins [63.5 x 81.5 cm].

MATERIALS
Patons Canadiana (100 g/3.5 oz) or
Patons Décor (100 g/3.5 oz)
AFGHAN
Main Color (MC) (White) 6 balls
Contrast A (Yellow) 5 balls
RUG
Main Color (MC) (White) 4 balls
Contrast A (Yellow) 4 balls

Size 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) circular knitting needle 90 cm long and 5.5 mm (U.S. 9) knitting needles for Afghan and 4.5 mm (U.S. 7) knitting needles for Rug or size needed to obtain tension.

TENSION
Afghan: 17 sts and 28 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat.
Rug: 17 sts and 28 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in pat with 2 strands of yarn.

ABBREVIATIONS
yf = bring yarn to front of work.
yb = bring yarn to back of work.

INSTRUCTIONS
AFGHAN
With MC and circular needle cast on 192 sts. Do not join.
Working back and forth across needle, proceed as follows:
**1st row: (RS). With A, K2. *K8. (Sl1. K2) 3 times. Sl1. Rep from * to last 10 sts. K10.
2nd row: With A, K2. *K8. (yf. Sl1. yb. K2) 3 times. yf. Sl1. yb. Rep from * to last 10 sts. K10.
3rd row:With MC, knit.
4th row: With MC, purl.
5th to 16th rows: Rep last 4 rows 3 times more.
17th row: With A, knit.
18th row: With A, purl.
19th row: With MC, K1. *(Sl1. K2) 3 times. Sl1. K8. Rep from * to last 11 sts. (Sl1. K2) 3 times. Sl1. K1.
20th row: With MC. K1. *(yf. Sl1. yb. K2) 3 times. yf. Sl1. yb. K8. Rep from * to last 11 sts. (yf. Sl1. yb. K2) 3 times. yf. Sl1. yb. K1.
21st to 32nd rows: Rep last 4 rows 3 times more.
33rd row: With A, knit.
34th row:With A, purl.
35th row:With MC, knit.
36th row:With MC, purl.
These 36 rows form pat.**
Cont even in pat until work from beg measures approx 56 ins [142 cm] ending on a 14th row of pat. Cast off.

EDGING
With MC and pair of needles, cast on 8 sts.
Knit 11 rows (garter st), noting that first row is WS.
***Wind A around all sts 4 times. Do not break A, carry loosely at right edge of work.
With MC, work 10 rows garter st.
With A, work 12 rows garter st.
Wind MC around all sts 4 times. Do not break MC, carry loosely at right edge of work.
With A, knit 10 rows (garter st).
With MC, knit 12 rows.***
Rep from *** to *** ending with Contrast A, until edging fits around entire Afghan.
Beg at center of one side edge, sew Edging to Afghan allowing sufficient length to gather at each corner.
Sew ends of Edging tog.

RUG
Note: Rug is worked with 2 strands of yarn.
With 2 strands of MC, cast on 102 sts.
Work from ** to ** as given for Afghan.
Cont even in pat until work from beg measures approx 31 ins [78.5 cm] ending on a 14th row of pat. Cast off.
Side Edging: With RS of work facing and 2 strands of A, pick up and knit 139 sts.
****Next row: Knit.
Next 2 rows: With MC, knit.
Next row: With A, knit. Cast off knitwise (WS).****
Top and Bottom Edging: With RS of work facing and 2 strands of A, pick up and knit 111 sts. Work from **** to **** as given for Side Edging.
