contrast c (00240 Leaf Green) 1 ball

Size 4 mm (U.S. G or 6) crochet hook or size needed to obtain tension. Small amount of black yarn for embroidery of nostrils and eyes. Stuffing.

1st rnd: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. (1 sc in next sc. 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 9 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. (1 sc in each of next 2 sc. 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 12 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. (1 sc in each of next 3 sc. 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 15 sc.
5th rnd: Ch 1. (1 sc in each of next 4 sc. 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.**
6th rnd: Ch 1. (1 sc in each of next 5 sc. 2 sc in next sc) 3 times. Join with sl st to first sc. 21 sc.
7th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around.
Join B with sl st to first sc.
Proceed in Stripe Pat as follows:

Work as for First Leg. Stuff Leg. Do not fasten off. Cont as follows for Body:

BODY
Join Second Leg to First Leg by working sl st into last sc of First Leg.
1st rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around First Leg, then 1 sc in each sc around Second Leg. Join with sl st to first sc. 42 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first sc.
Rep last rnd until work from joining rnd measures 8 ins [20.5 cm], joining A at end of last rnd.
With A, rep last rnd 6 times.
note: Stuff Body and Head as you work.
Shape Head: 1st rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 5 sc. Draw up a loop in each of next 2 sc. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – sc2tog made. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 36 sc rem.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 4 sc. Sc2tog over next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 30 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. *1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Sc2tog over next 2 sts. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to first sc. 24 sc.
Cont as established, dec 6 sts evenly around each rnd until 6 sc rem (stuffing Head as you work). Fasten off, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts and draw tightly.
Fasten securely.

ARMS (make 2).
Work from ** to ** as given for First Leg. 18 sc.
6th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc around.
Join B with sl st to first sc.
Work 16 rnds of Stripe Pat as given for First Leg.
With MC, cont even until work from beg measures 8 ins [20.5 cm]. Fasten off. Stuff Arm.

MUZZLE
With B, ch 7.
1st rnd: 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. 3 sc in last ch. Working into opposite side of ch, work 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. 2 sc in last ch. Join with sl st to first sc. 14 sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 6 sc. 3 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 6 sc. 3 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 18 sc.
3rd rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 7 sc. 3 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 8 sc. 3 sc in next sc. 1 sc in last sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 22 sc.
4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in each of first 8 sc. 3 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of next 10 sc. 3 sc in next sc. 1 sc in each of last 2 sc. Join with sl st to first sc. 26 sc.

EARS (make 4).
With MC, ch 6.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 4 ch. Turn. 5 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn.
3rd row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last 2 rows once more. 9 sc.
Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Rep last row twice more.
Next row: Ch 1. Sc2tog over first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last 2 sc. Sc2tog over last 2 sc. Turn.
Rep last row once more. 5 sc. Fasten off.
Joining Ears: With WS facing each other, place 2 Ears tog. Join MC with sl st at lower edge and work 1 rnd of sc through all thicknesses around outer edge to join. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

FINISHING
Stuff Muzzle lightly and sew to Front of Monkey. Attach Ears to either side of Head. Sew Arms and Tail in position as shown. With black yarn, embroider eyes and nostrils.

HAT
Ribbing
: (worked sideways). With B, ch 8.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each ch to end of ch. 7 sc. Turn.
2nd row: Working in back loop only of each sc, 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Join A. Turn.
With A, rep last row twice more, joining B at end of last row.
With B, rep last row twice more, joining A at end of last row.
Rep last 4 rows until work (when slightly stretched) measures approx 111/2 ins [29 cm], ending with 2 rows of A. Fasten off, leaving a long end.
Sew center back seam.

Body of Hat: 1st rnd: With WS of ribbing facing, join C with sl st at seam. Ch 1 and work 44 sc evenly around edge of ribbing. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each st around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 44 dc.
3rd and 4th rnds: As 2nd rnd.
5th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in next dc. *(Yoh and draw up a loop in next st. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – dc2tog made. 1 dc in each of next 2 dc. Rep from * to last 2 dc. Dc2tog over last 2 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 33 dc rem.
6th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *Dc2tog over next 2 sts. 1 dc in next st. Rep from * to last 2 sts. Dc2tog over last 2 sts. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 22 dc rem.
7th rnd: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *(Yoh and draw up a loop in next st. Yoh and draw through 2 loops on hook) 3 times. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – dc3tog made. Rep from * around. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. 8 dc rem.
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end onto tapestry needle and draw tightly through rem sts. Fold ribbing to RS.
Pom-pom: Wind B around 2 fingers approx 40 times. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in center. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to a smooth round shape. Sew to top of Hat.
