contrast D (77253 Burnt Orange) 1 ball
Set of four size 3.75 mm (U.S. 5) double-pointed knitting needles or size needed to obtain tension. Small amount of black yarn for embroidery of nostrils and eyes. Stuffing.

INSTRUCTIONS
STRIPE PAT
With B knit 5 rnds.
With A knit 2 rnds.
With C knit 5 rnds.
With A knit 2 rnds.
With D knit 5 rnds.
With A knit 2 rnds.
These 21 rnds form Stripe Pat.

FIRST LEG
With pair of double-pointed needles and A, cast on 4 sts.
**1st row: Inc 1 st in each st. 8 sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles as (2, 2, 4) sts on each needle. Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
2nd and alt rnds: Knit.
3rd rnd: *K1. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 12 sts.
5th rnd: *K2. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 16 sts.
7th rnd: *K3. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 20 sts.
9th rnd: *K4. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 24 sts.**
11th rnd: *K5. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 28 sts.
Break A. Place marker at end of last rnd.
Work Stripe Pat once.
With MC, work even until Leg from marker measures 6 ins [15 cm].
Break MC. Leave sts on contrast length of yarn. Stuff Leg.
SECOND LEG
Work as for First Leg. Do not break
MC. Cont as follows for Body:

BODY
Join legs: Beg at marked st of Second Leg, K28 of First Leg. K28 from First Leg, dividing sts onto 3 needles. Join in rnd, placing marker on first st. 56 sts.
Knit even in rnds until Body from joining rnd measures 8 ins [20.5 cm].
Break MC.
With A, knit 6 rnds.
note: Stuff Body and Head as you work.
shape head: 1st rnd: *K6. K2tog.
Rep from * around. 49 sts.
2nd and alt rnds: Knit.
3rd rnd: *K5. K2tog. Rep from * around. 42 sts rem.
5th rnd: *K4. K2tog. Rep from * around. 35 sts rem.
7th rnd: *K3. K2tog. Rep from * around. 28 sts rem.
9th rnd: *K2. K2tog. Rep from * around. 21 sts rem.
11th rnd: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * around. 14 sts rem.
Break yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten securely.

Muzzle
With pair of double-pointed needles and B, cast on 10 sts.
1st row: Knit.
Turn work upside down.With RS facing and second needle, pick up and knit 10 sts along cast on edge. 20 sts.
Divide sts as follows: 5 sts on second and third needles, 10 sts on first needle.
Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
1st rnd: 1st needle: K1. M1. Knit to last st. M1. K1. 2nd needle: K1. M1. Knit to end of needle. 3rd needle: Knit to last st. M1. K1.
2nd rnd: Knit.
Rep last 2 rnds 3 times more. 36 sts.
Break B.
With A, rep last 2 rnds 3 times more.
48 sts. Cast off.

arMs (make 2).
Work from ** to ** as given for First Leg.
Work Stripe Pat once.
With MC knit even until work from beg of MC measures 8 ins [20.5 cm].
Cast off.
Stuff Arm.

ears (make 4).
With pair of double-pointed needles and MC, cast on 8 sts. Work back and forth across needles in rows as follows:
1st row: (RS). Knit.
2nd row: Purl.
3rd row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1.
4th row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows twice more. 14 sts.
Beg with a purl row, work 3 rows even in stocking st.
next row: K1. ssk. Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.
next row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows twice more. 8 sts. Cast off.
With WS facing each other, place 2 Ears tog. Sew outer edge of Ears tog.

tail
Work as given for Arms.

Funky hat
With C, cast on 50 sts. Divide sts onto 3 needles (17, 17, 16) sts. Join in rnd, placing marker on first st.
1st rnd: Knit.
2nd rnd: Purl.
3rd rnd: *K1. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 75 sts.
4th rnd: *K14. Inc 1 st in next st. Rep from * around. 80 sts.
Knit 8 rnds even.
shape top: 1st rnd: *K6. K2tog. Rep from * around. 70 sts.
2nd and alt rnds: Knit.
3rd rnd: *K5. K2tog. Rep from * around. 60 sts.
5th rnd: *K4. K2tog. Rep from * around. 50 sts.
7th rnd: *K3. K2tog. Rep from * around. 40 sts.
9th rnd: *K2. K2tog. Rep from * around. 30 sts.
11th rnd: *K1. K2tog. Rep from * around. 20 sts.
Break yarn leaving a long end. Thread end through rem sts, draw up tightly and fasten securely.

BriM
With pair of double-pointed needles and C, cast on 24 sts. Working back and forth across needle in rows: work 2 rows stocking st.
next row: K1. ssk. Knit to last 3 sts. K2tog. K1.
next row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows once more. 20 sts rem.
next row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1.
next row: Purl.
Rep last 2 rows once more. 24 sts.
Work 2 rows stocking st. Cast off knitwise.
With RS tog, fold Brim in half. Sew sides of Brim. Sew cast on and cast off edges tog.
Sew straight edge of Brim to cast on edge of Hat.
Pom-pom: Wind D around 2 fingers approx 40 times. Remove from fingers and tie tightly in center. Cut through each side of loops. Trim to a smooth round shape.
Sew to top of Hat.

Finishing
Stuff Muzzle lightly and sew to front of Monkey. Attach Ears to either side of Head. Attach Arms to either side of Monkey. Attach Tail to back of Monkey.
With black yarn, embroider eyes and nostrils.
